Sumi's eyes, now adjusted, widened. For miles there were nothing but stumps of the thick trees that had been cut down for some reason. Holy crud!

"Where the heck are we? Did you get us even more lost than when we were in the forest?" Tansa wondered. "Where are we supposed to go now?"

"We're at Treefell. It's just a straight line across, and this time we can see. Once we're clear we'll be in the desert," Sumi explained. For an outcast she sure doesn't know much about Amaru...wouldn't somebody rejected by society travel a lot?

"Well then, stop staring at the trees and get moving," Tansa snapped as she walked forward and stopped beside Sumi. "It's not that interesting, they're just cut down trees."

"Fine then..." Natsumi shrugged, moving again now that she could see. She kept feeling like they were being watched but she ignored the feeling.

"Walk faster, Fishy." Tansa was already annoyed again and they'd only been out of the forest for a minute. "Lazy, lazy fish. Why couldn't I be sent to work with someone not completely useless, like another Shifter?"

"There aren't that many shifters, idiot... Why do you think Amett wants them in the first place? You aren't a common race," Sumi replied. She continued to move at her own pace uncaring at the moment. She didn't want to speed up just because Tansa told her to.

"Well anyone else would be better than you," she answered. Realizing Natsumi wasn't going to move any faster, she remained at the same, slow pace, though she considered attacking then making Sumi chase her just to move along more quickly.

Natsumi suddenly took off again at her run, trying to leave Tansa behind. She was annoyed, but knew the Wildcat would catch up in very few strides. It wasn't much of a lead. Well we're out of the dang forest...

Tansa was only a step behind at the start and never put distance between them. Ha ha, made her run. Too easy.

She slammed on her own brakes, skidding to a halt at full speed so Tansa would blow past her. She stuck out a foot in hopes to get a revenge-trip.

Tansa never saw it coming. As soon as she realized Sumi had stopped, she tripped, falling down and rolling forward a few times before crashing to a stop against a tree. Shaking her head, she dizzily got back on her paws, fur bristling. "Inde, rekane shista!" she shouted as she charged in a circle around Sumi to get behind her, claws unsheathed.

Natsumi laughed, her eyes darkening out again. "You want a fight for that?" Well I'll give her one.

Tansa continued to circle Natsumi, slowly, waiting for the right moment to strike. She growled. She's going insane again... Is this really worth it...?

Natsumi's eyes glimmered in the black abyss like they were laced with flames yet completely cold as the mountains in Hoku at the same time. She allowed herself to follow Tansa in the careful circle in order to keep from giving the cat her back. She cracked the whip about an inch from Tansa's paws a few times.
