The sound of paws on stone broke through the early morning stillness. Dawn break was only a few moments away. The silhouette of a white wolf of large stature appeared from the brush of vines around the ruins. "These flowers.... Gah, their scent is almost overpowering," Arhu complained, though in a silent tone. "Don't be so dramatic," said a female voice behind him. Kit appeared from about the same area Arhu did. "How uncharacteristic of you two. Kit being mature and Arhu complaining," Zio said, only slightly after Kit. They had been traveling for two days straight. They had heard in the settlement they had adventured from that there was a piece of the Stone Legend located in the ruins. It was only 3/4 of a days walk to enter the surrounding area of the ruins. However, they were wary that there were vicious animals about and decided it would not be safe to stop and camp in this area. Now, entering the third day of their walk, tempers had grown thin and the travelers were indeed tired. "Now that we're in an open air," said Arhu, referring to the vast, though overgrown stone path they were now on, "we can take shifts resting. You two will take until high sun to rest, and I will only need until mid-afternoon." And so, as instructed they took shifts sleeping. At around 3 o'clock they were recharged and ready to go again. They walked to the entrance of the ruins and stopped. "We'll take on whatever comes at us," said Zio confidently, taking a step into the temple.

But, moments after Zio spoke something was coming at them. A rustle in the bushes claimed attention, but only a small mousaokit emerged. It stood up on its hind legs and nibbbled a piece of plant from between them then suddenly ran, dropping the leaf. A ferrah emerged as well, looking like it had been on the hunt. However, unlike the mouse, it didn't leave.

The whole group jumped, being startled by first the mousaokit and then the ferrah. When they saw their new "foe" they relaxed a little. Kit drew her sword. Pushing Zio aside, she gently poked the ferrah with it, wondering why it didn't leave. Arhu became alert, as Zio watched, unsure of what to do.

The ferrah hissed, pinning its ears back. It snarled at them, clearly not enjoying being poked. But as soon as it looked at them it relaxed, tilting its head to the side. It flattened some of its light purple fur back to its place since it had been mussed up from snarling and raising it. A strong mental voice radiated from the little ferret-like creature. Why prod me?

After the initial shock of being mentally talked to by a ferrah, Kit lowered the sword. Hoping the creature would be able to understand her spoken language she replied, "I am sorry. I was just curious as to why you did not move as did the mousakit." Kit paused a moment and Arhu continued the conversation, "What brings you here with us?" Zio was confused as to why a creature so small could have telepathic abilities. Do all the animals? he thought, Mmmm... I wonder how that tastes. Maybe with a little bit of..... Crap, I hope it can't hear that. A nervous bead of sweet formed on Zio's brow.

The Ferrah stretched out its body for a moment, then spoke in its female voice again. I can't read your mind if that's what you're so worried about. I'm just passing through. The mouse ran from me. I was going to eat him.

Relaxing a bit, Zio answered for Kit. "We heard there were vicious animals around here. We thought that maybe, as one of the locals, you would be skittish of staying out in the open for so long, with your small self and all." Kit and Arhu hoped Zio had not offended the ferrah. He was often oblivious to the words he said sometimes, though he could be the smoothest talker when he pleased.

She drew back her lip and snarled. Her front teeth, sharp and pointed, suddenly snapped just a fraction of an inch from Zio's hand as the Ferrah swiftly moved closer. I'm not small and I'm far from weak. Don't you get any ideas. There are things out here that could snap your whole body in two, little boy. Fortunately I can only snap your hand in half. She backed up and smirked a little. Her tail lightly flicked the ground and she looked calm as if nothing happened.

They were all silent for a moment. Then Zio twitched, raised his hand in the air and yelled. "If I'm such a little boy, why don't you come here and fight me!" He started moving towards the ferrah, "We're having ferrah for dinner tonight, guys!" Kit grabbed Zio, hooking her arms under his and pulling backwards, as Arhu moved infront of them. This was one of the times Zio was not oblivious nor smooth. Just idiotic. "I am sorry, madame. He is....... not of the right state of mind. Do not take into consideration what he has-" Arhu was interrupted by Zio's yell of most certain pain for insulting him, and then a comment about the most certain pain Kit just brought him, "said."

The Ferrah winced. I do not take insults lightly but I will forgive the fool. You were right to intervene before I had to take a nice bite out of him. ...And please there are no need for formalities. My name is Saritta. And you are...? As she spoke she relaxed and her fur flattened out. She seemed far less hostile now.

"This generation calls me Arhu, and so I have been called for a while now," Arhu replied, "It is nice to mean you, Saritta." Kit, with one arm twisted behind a freshly bruised Zio, walked behind Arhu. "He's sorry, right Zio?" "Yes." Zio replied.

You'd better be, punk! she snorted. Saritta scampered over to him and up his back until she draped across his shoulders. All insults aside though, you look like you'd make a good pillow.

Zio gave Kit a pleading look. Kit smirked and started walking into the ruins. Arhu followed. After giving a gentle sigh, as to not disturb Saritta, being close to his throat with her razor sharp teeth, Zio walked behind him. He might as well make the best of the situation now, for he had a nice neck warmer.

Saritta yawned and rested there. She kept brushing her tail in his face in hopes to annoy the boy. Of course things could have been worse.

Kit stopped for a moment. Then she turned around to Arhu. "What are we looking for?" she asked. Arhu responded, "How can you forget!? The Stone Legend." "What does that look like, you never quite explained." "From what I understand and have seen, they are large, glowing blue, stones with ancient runes on them." Zio looked up. It was pitch dark, meaning no glowing stones. "Where would it be?" he whispered. "Deeper probably," Kit responded, knowing that was just as much as what Arhu knew.
