"I second that." Des said.

Essetai took a few breaths to calm herself then drew her sword, holding it in a manner that would balance her but not cut her hand. She stepped forward onto a stone and concentrated on keeping her feet from slipping. She kept eye contact with where she was going to move her feet next in order to keep stable. She felt her tail twist and turn in an attempt to keep herself balanced while she waited for Hiko to assist her.

"Bet your wishing Hoku's rivers weren't frozen." Des said. " Then you might have some practice at this."

She shook her head but only slightly. While she was quite used to the weight of the horns on the top of her head as she had had them for quite a few years by now she did not want to let them be the thing that set her off balance and had her topple into the river. "No... I'm glad they're frozen. It makes crossing them easier. Not at all like this!"

" Good point, try relaxing a bit. Being too stiif is as dangerous as being reckless." Des said. He decided not to say much more so not to distract Esse.

"Sorry..." she mumbled. Normally she would have closed her eyes and relaxed but that idea spelled simple disaster. So as she stepped forward onto the stones before her, Esse simply continued to take her even breaths. Bah...this isn't so hard, is it? ...I hope...?

Hiko followed Esse forward, gently floating on the air alongside her. Be careful which rocks you choose. That one looks slippy. He warned her.

She avoided that one but her grip on the other rocks was slipping a bit. She felt herself start to lean to the left and her tail shot over to lean on Hiko to compensate. Once she regained her footing she apologized to the Pegicorn and took a few more calming breaths.

" Your doing good so far." Des said trying to encourage her. " Take your time, we're in no rush."

The water level is rising, something must be happening further up stream. You need to get across before the stones are covered. Hiko had noticed the subtle changes in the water level.

Des cursed under his breath. Just our luck. He began running upstream. " I'm gonna see what's happening and try to stop it." Des yelled back. " You two be careful and don't fall in. Once you make it across try and join up with me."

"Alright, I'll be careful! See you soon, Des. Let me know if you find out what's up with the river!" Essetai called to him. She nearly lost her footing again with the distraction. Cursing under her breath in Amarian, she mumbled a little in annoyance. Why is crossing a few little pepples so hard?

Hiko did his best to steady her, taking her weight as she stepped over the gaps between the stones. Quickly he urged her.
Further upstream little was happening. The bushes were dense, making hard for Desumo to make any progress.

Des was getting annoyed with the vegetation. " I think I've had enough of this." He said as he drew his sword. He began to slam the plants out of his ways with the broad side of the sword, unable to bring himself to actually cut them.

Esse suddenly yelped as her foot lost its grip. She made a grab for Hiko with her tail but missed. She felt herself clawing at the air for something to grab onto but failing to find a hand hold even with Hiko there. "Ahhhh!" was her last word before she fell into the cold surface of the water.
(Could. Not. Resist.)
