The Shadrals are vaguely human, in the way that a brick is vaguely a sponge. They can seem similar from a distance, and are the same basic shape, but they are very, very different. Their skin is black all over, and they have spiked black hair upon their heads. They wear tight clothes made of cloth, which turns black the second they wear it, no matter what colour it was before. They have long claws and teeth, similar to the Auroran. They never seem completely solid, as if they are just a cloud of black smoke. They hover several inches off the ground, but cannot fly, go any higher, or touch the ground.
They live in the desolate Swarl Marshes, inside caves. They survive by drinking the blood of the carcasses of animals killed by predators. There is no record of any Shadral ever being born or dying, so clearly these events are kept away from prying eyes. The Shadral are definetely not immortal, merely long-lived. Very little else is known about their culture or religion, as the Swarl Marshes claim nearly everyone that is foolish enough to enter. Some people believe that they worship Amett, while others believe that they worship a dark god, like Tolrin.
