Dragons are an individual race full of power and mystery. Not many are ever seen around Amaru because of the influence of Amett. Years ago the Shifter searched for any Dragons and imprisoned them. He wanted their immense power as they were the only thing that could possibly stand in his way.
A Dragon is a a creature that is infinitely diverse. They can be serpentine, four legged, two legged, having hands on their wings... countless possibility. Not all breath fire either. Some have developed the skill of ice, lightning, and any other element, while others don't even use a breath weapon and rely strictly on magic to fight or even only on tooth and claw.
While they are typically thought of as a meat-eating carnivores race, not all eat meat. It is up to the dragon and whatever their lifestyle may be. Their lives are carried out however they wish. The only known place where Dragons exist is Dragon Valley.
A Dragon male does not take a mate without first knowing the female. The reason they are a race is because of their extreme intelligence. They will in a way 'date' and just be friends until they find out if they are right for each other.
A hatchling dragon is cared for by both its parents until it is about 100 years old and can fend for itself. Even then sometimes they all remain together as a family since Dragons mate for life.
