The Floxxus shook Desumo's leg hard, and then ducked underneath him, moving quickly towards the Pegicorns. It came up through Esse's blind spot so that she couldn't see it coming. It also kept one eye on Desumo, to be sure that he wouldn't come up from behind.

"Darn it." Desumo said, cringing from the pain. He looked to sse the floxxus dashing for esse and the Pegicorns. "Esse, look out." Desumo yelled. He had to think quickly. He charged electricity in his body and dashed as fast as he could. He landed between the floxxus and Esse, throwing lightning into a barrier.
" Get yourself and them out of here. I'll try driving it in the opposite direction but it might dash back in this direction. This barrier is to big for me to hold out long." Desumo sheathed his sword and tossed it to Esse. " In case it does find you, use that. I expect it back though."

The Floxxus stopped, slightly confused. It wasn't sure what Desumo was doing and why. Hadn't it already shown him that nothing but sunlight affected him. It walked slowly forwards, it's eyes looking into Desumo's and it moved through the barrier. It shivered slightly as it walked through, but when it was on the otherside, it seemed to have suffered no harm. It gave Desumo a split second to process this, before it moved forwards to the Pegicorns. It ran straight between the legs of the leader and into the middle of the herd. The herd scattered, fleeing in all directions. Panic had taken hold of them and some started to fly. The injured Pegicorn tried to run, but lost it's balance, because it's wing wasn't working properly. It collapsed on the ground and the Floxxus began to advance.

Esse caught it by the hilt in one hand, gripping it tightly. "Will do, Des!" She'd ask him about calling him that later when they weren't in mortal danger. She ran over to stand in front of the injured Pegicorn, ready to defend it. "Don't you dare even think about it, Floxxus!"

Desumo Eyed Esse weirdly for a moment. "Des is a new one." He thought. He shrugged it off, realizing the floxxus made it through. " Can't I get a break today? Time to resort to hand combat." Desumo focused lightning into his fist and charged the floxxus. "You better get ready Esse, I got a feeling he's more than thinking about it." He said.

"Oh believe me, I know it!" she replied, worry filling her now golden eyes. She remained rigid and stiff but ready to move. I'm glad I practiced with ice blades! This isn't one of them but at least I know how to keep a sword in balance... We still have ages until the sun comes up. This situation just keeps getting worse and worse. I have to admit I'm worried. She thought, torrents of worry and panic filling her mind.

Desumo's mind was racing. We can't keep going like this. we'll soon tire and then It will have a three course meal. Morning won't come soon and even so, who says it won't come back tomorrow night. He thought. " Esse anything that can be a sun substitute?" Desumo asked seeing a glimmer of hope.

"A complete substitute? Only the sun itself... I don't think anything is strong enough to- Wait a second. It can't kill it, but it might chase it off. You've got electricity. If we combine that with a sparks spell from the both of us, maybe we can make it bright enough here to chase off the Floxxus?" she suggested. She found herself talking quickly in order to get her words in.

Desumo stopped his charge. That just might work. He thought.
' We're each on an opposite side of it, will it still work" Desumo asked. If they had to reposition themselves then that could take some precious time.

"Ready?" she asked, raising the palm on the hand that wasn't holding the sword. She was ready to concentrate her magic and use the sparks spell.

Desumo concetrated on mixing his magic with lightning, a feat he didn't ordinarily do. He felt the mixture just right. "Okay, I'm ready" He said.

She channeled the sparks spell through the sword. The electricity Desumo had charged it with was still dancing along the metal. She allowed it to merge with the energy and smiled. "Ready too!"

"Funny, didn't know sparks could be channeled that way." Desumo said with a smile. " On the count of three?"
