Chlea made sure to step carefully, one hand resting uncertanly against a wall to help her find her way. Her feet were sore from walking and her pack was starting to feel heavy, but she was finally here; the last place her brother had spoken of to her, before he had vanished.
Soyru was resting on her shoulder, still too small to fly great distances; she felt the added weight, but was slowly growing used to it. Now the bird squawked at her, making her jump and almost lose her footing. She reached up a confident hand to brush over the ruffled feathers. "Is there something there?" She asked softly, receiving another harsh caw as a reply. Shuddering, she decided to sit with her back against the wall beneath her hand; that way, danger could not come from behind. Although she could not see, the change in temperature told her night was approaching, and that she should rest.

A tall figure entered the clearing. She sat down with her back against a wall, and didn't try to make a move towards you. Tamara felt around the clearing for Soyru's mind. When she felt the connection, she asked the bird whether this strange woman was safe. Tamara didn't like new people, so she often asked the animals around whether new people were safe. Her heightened sense of sound told her that pursuit was not far behind. She asked the bird again... waiting for a reply.

Soyru looked up in surprise, flapping its wings. Such a young bird was unused to strange things such as people in its mind... but after the surprise, it managed to send back a somewhat confused feeling of trust that it had for Chlea, that this girl was not dangerous, and that whoever was asking would be safe.

Tamara sat a little straighter. She had got the reply she wanted. "Can I help you with something," she asked the stranger. "Pursuit is close behind. We need to move and move quickly." She talked to the bird silently, telling her that she was welcome to ride on her own shoulder, and give the girl a break. She left the desision up to the bird though, and didn't use the slightly controlling tendancy she had with animals when threatened.
"I can here them getting closer. We need to move now."

Chlea jumped in surprise when she heard someone speak. "Oh! I did not know there was anyone... but, you say pursuit, I do not understand. Is someone chasing you, stranger?" She tried to work out where the voice had come from, but found it difficult. She carefully climbed to her feet, bracing one hand against the wall again. "Still, I imagine it is dangerous to speak here..."

"I can help you carry something, if you'd like. I don't know who is following, I assumed they were after you, but what ever it is. It's getting closer. I can carry your bird aswell, and you could lean on my staff, although I will need it if it comes to a fight. Here."
Tamara got to her feet gracefully and passed the staff over to the strange girl. She called to the bird again in her mind, and encouraged the bird to fly over to her shoulder. "Lets move."

Chlea shook her head. "Oh, I do not want to be a burden. In any case, I do not think any of that will help, when I cannot see the ground where I place my feet." She raised a hand to point to her eyes. "As you can tell, I'm blind. Please, if you do not know who is coming, then go. If they are chasing you, I do not wish to slow you down."
On her shoulder, Soyru cawed and shuffled uncomfortably.

Tamara took the staff back slowly. She was a little shocked, because truthfully she had not noticed the girls eyes, and had just thought that she was tired from travelling in the dangerous forest. "Let me at least help you carry something," she said. "Look, if you put your arm round my shoulders, I'll be able to help you. I can guide you, and tell you where the ground is uneven. I'm not leaving you alone. It might be you there after, and they might cause you harm. Come on."

Chlea frowned. "Why would you help me?" She asked, her tone curious rather than angry. "I am a stranger to you, and yet you offer me aid without question. Perhaps they have good reason to chase me? Or perhaps..." She trailed off, and offered a weak smile. "If you could, maybe you would take my pack? It is not heavy, but I am not strong, and it wears on me." She held out one arm, unable to put it over Tamara's shoulders without help.

Tamara knelt, and picked the pack off the ground. She slipped it onto her back with a smile, and pulled the straps tight. Then she held the girl's arm, and slipped around her shoulders. "There," she said, "are you ready to start walking? In answer to your question, I help you because the bird trusts you. I don't believe the people behind have a good reason to chase you. If you were evil, then the creatures wouldn't come near you. No bird as clever as the one on your shoulder would sit comfortably as close to you now, were you evil. A bird who would do such a thing would have a black and twisted mind, and I can clearly see that your bird hasn't. The other reason I trust you, is because I can feel fear in the animals behind us. They are scared of the hunters... Come we must move a little faster... I didn't even ask your name, or that of the bird... We have a little way to walk yet. I've been here once before. I know a place where we may be able to hide."

Chlea found it was much easier to move with someone guiding her, and cautiously picked up her pace slightly. "Ah, oh course. My name is Chlea, and the bird is known as Soyru. Or, in the least, that is what I have taken to calling it. Is it truely so intelligent a creature, then? I was told it tookk something of a shine to me..." She almost stumbled, catching herself with a strange sort of grace and smiling shakily. "In any case, we should go to this hiding place. Hopefully we can talk there?"

((thats fine ^^)) "Yes, but quietly, and we would have to be prepared to move away quickly, if we were followed. See, you can move quickly," Tamara said, with a faint smile on her face. I don't think it's that far from here. My name is Tamara by the way."
Tamara fell silent for a little while, and then said quietly. "All creatures are intelligent. Just be cause they use a different language to us, doesn't mean they don't communicate, and they are better at sensing danger as well. Many of their senses are far more advanced than most peoples."

"I see. I always wondered about my little Soyru... please, could you tell me, how has it grown? The last time I was told, it was only a little chick, but now it feels much bigger than that..." She almost stumbled again. "Is it much further?"
