"Nah, I'm up now. Once I'm awake there's no going back to bed... So tell me how I can help."

"I'm making water containers. You can help by making some too."

He nodded. "Your method or mine? Or shall we both make a test one and see which works better?"

"Make them how you like, as long as they don't leak water, it's not a problem. When do you think Asim is going to wake up?" Tamara asked, and then a slight flush began to colour her pale cheeks.

"Probably whenever he's used to... I wonder what time wild wolves wake up, eat, sleep, and all that? He must be at least a little homesick," Zyg said. He trailed off then noticed her cheeks. "I wasn't going to say anything about it, but you like him." It wasn't a question.
He turned his back though he waited for commentary or retaliation and started to grab materials for a water flask. His first apparent choice was to search for some large water-proof leaves.

Tamara didn't say anything, but she mulled over what Zyg had said. It was true, but she wasn't going to admit, because she didn't feel that Asim felt the same way.

Zyg laughed, knowing he was right. "I knew it. The way he acts around you...it's such puppy love. You should tell him how you feel, ya know." He continued to pick leaves of different sorts. The Luparis thief intended to test them out to see which ones worked best for holding water.

Tamara again didn't reply. She was brave enough to fight, and she wasn't afraid of death but that was much harder. She wasn't going to say anything to Asim. She turned back to her bottle, filling it with water and then cleverly sealing it so that it wouldn't break, but they could take the top off.

Zyg walked up to the river and dipped each leaf in water. He observed which ones the water became beads of dew on and which ones just let it seep through or roll off. After making a selection he started to gather more of that specific type. He decided to change the subject. "So how are you making yours?"

"I'm using some of those waxy leaves that just let the water roll off, and I'm using the mud to seal it together. I'm just thankful that it's reasonably sunny right now, because it means the mud is drying. What are you planning to do?"

"Interlocking the leaves then sealing up the cracks with treesap that I plan to let dry like glue before testing. If that doesn't work than I'll have to give it another layer for the sake of more waterproofing."

"Yours will probably last longer, the sugar in the tree saps will stop the water getting a musty taste, although it will be sweet. We should drink mine first."

He offered a nod. "Right, that should be a good thing though because we will have a way to know which water needs to be used first, how much we can use, etc. It will prove useful in the long run."

"How much water do you think we can carry? How long do you think we can stay in the desert for?"

"It will be cooler if we cross at night. I know a person can go about two days without their throat burning for water... Depending on our speed it could take three or four days to cross. So we should pack double what we would need for two days. It also depends on how long we can individually survive without it. I don't need much. I can't speak for Asim."
