She snorted. Not good enough. Accalia went back to the beginning of the course and readied herself to run it again, ignoring her tiredness from the first.

Star finished her meal, and began to pack away, turning the sand timer over as Accailia began to run the course.

She had to lay down at the end after crossing the line, catching her breath. And now? Accalia asked hopefully.

"Not faster." Star said. "Do it again."

She stood up, legs trembling, and started to run again. Accalia pressed herself to go faster even when her lungs burned and her body felt like it wanted to give up.

Star watched slightly suprised that Accalia was still going. Most creatures would have given up by now, or at least knocked over one of the jumping poles.

She reached the end and fell to her stomach. Any improvement? she asked. Her thought voice was weak. She was tired but still pressing on.

"A little. Not all the sand past through the 7th chamber, but you should really be able to do a harder track in 5 chambers. We will do it again, when you catch your breath. There is a stream over there, if you want some water."

Accalia struggled over to the stream and drank before she laid down by the edge on her side, panting heavily. She closed her eyes and relaxed to try to gain back her strength. Seven is unacceptable. I must do better.

Star stood and lowered the bars that Accailia was required to move underneath. She also lifted the jumping bars very slightly.

After she had caught her breath, Accalia stood up. She trotted to the beginning of the course again, not noticing the changes in the track. I am ready.

Star flipped the timer over again, keeping an eye and Accalia and checking how far the sand had poured through the timer.

She raced through, pushing on with renewed strength and determination. Come on...come on... she muttered. Accalia reached the end and dropped again. And now?

"Slightly better, but it still all passed through the 6th chamber." Star got up again making the track harder again. She put the weaving poles closer to increase the difficulty there as well.

She went back to the beginning and ignored the changes. Then I will do it again until I do it right.
