Star looked again, and changed her mind. She let Accalia off the branch, and slowly slipped the leash off her head. She then turned away from the wolf and began to go through her excersises. "We will arrive at the guards tomorrow. Then you will be on a leash."

She blinked, amazed by the removal of the leash but she nodded. I understand... Accalia seemed slightly confused to be off of it. She stretched, trying to get the stiffness out of her muscles. What now?

Now we wait until the sun rises again. Get some sleep.

She nodded to Star and curled up, head resting on her front paws. Accalia seemed happier than she had in a long while to be less restricted.

Star threw Accalia some meat, went through her exercises quickly and then curled up to go to sleep.

Accalia ate slowly as if lost in thought then yawned. Shall I take up the usual patrol, Miss? she asked almost enthusiastically. It was the first time she addressed Star with anything let alone 'miss'.

If you want. Wake me if you find anything. You can have a sleep in the morning, will you wake me early, please? Star asked without opening her mouth.

Of course, Miss. she said with a curt nod. How early would you like? Accalia asked. She knew Star's normal waking time but 'early' could mean any of the hours prior.

Two hours early than usual. Star had her eyes closed by now, and didn't say another word.

Accalia watched Star fall asleep then got up and stretched her limbs a little, trotting in little circles around the perimeter of where they were staying. It felt good to be freed of that rope but she could not help but wonder how much longer it would remain off of her neck.

Star slept silently but lightly, ready to wake at the slightest sound of danger.

(time skipping to when Accalia wakes her up)
Accalia yawned and stretched a moment then looked at the sky. She trotted over to Star and nudged her with a paw. Time to get up, Miss.

Star rolled to her feet. She turned to Accalia. You can sleep now. Star jogged gently into the forest. She killed a smaller creature, packaging the meat quickly and putting it into her pack. She moved back to the river and bathed in the cold water, quickly climbing out again. She slipped back into her clothes and ran back to where Accalia was waiting changing into wolf form as she ran. She landed on all fours, and crept quietly into the clearing, having left her pack a short distance away. She curled up close to Accalia and waited.

Accalia turned her head and noticing the wolf, smiled. Hello again as usual, Mother. How have you been? she asked. If she knew it was Star she didn't let on... besides she was too young to know it wasn't her mother anyway.

Star looked at Accalia and smiled. I can't stay for that long.
