" Yes, every Wind Elemental family has a stash of goods they've traded." Des explained. "Since they're nomads Winds attain many valuables, like these pants I wear that can withstand intense heat. I can't say its location since we're in an area where it's likely to be over heard. I can say it's in neither Hoku nor Seido so it is out of the way, but it has some useful items."

Esse sounded intrigued. "I wonder what it must be like to be a nomad like that... must be hard but exciting." She blinked and paused before laughing at herself. "There I go, off again! Wonder this, question that, I never seem to stifle my curiosity."

"Being a nomad is alright but it be nice to have a place to settle down." Des said with a sigh. "I lived a long time with my mother before I started alternating between parents. We were always travelling and trading, using the stars and seasons as our guide. The only time I saw any other Wind Elementals was when we gathered to trade amongst ourselves, though the place was always different and rarely repeated. The sense of adventure was nice but once I knew what a permanent home was when I stayed with my father I knew that it would be nice to settle down with my mother too. When the adventure is over it's nice to go home but for the Wind the adventure never ends." Des turned away, depressed by the memories and feelings that first set him on his journey. "It's ironic really, you search for adventure and a life on the road while I seek to end it."

The Pegicorn nodded his head gently. The heard never stays still for very long either, it is too dangerous and we need to find new pastures.

"Well after you deal with blizzards, trapped inside, locked away from the world for a while you decide it's time for a little adventure...especially if you're like me and are absolutely enthralled by the stories and legends of Amaru. I want to know if they're real! ...Though I agree it's ironic."

" My ideal place is a moving sky village, travelling on the air currents." Des said, appreciating the pegicorn sharing his feelings. " That way the Winds won't have to sacrifice their trading lifestyle and we can be more organized." Des started in the direction of the river, resuming his hovering pace. " What about you, what will you do after this is over and you've seen all of Amaru?"

Esse waited for the Pegicorn's reply and kind of drifted dreamily over her own idea. With all the knowledge I'll gain I'm sure I can apply it. Maybe I can become a scholar and teach the Elders all I know and then join my friend's parents in making ice weapons and master their uses?

When I am older, and have learnt more, I will try to begin my own heard, if you let me out of this one. I'm an not yet experienced enough to gain trust or respect, so I will have to learn that too.

"Though I'll be upset to see you go, when the time is right you are of course allowed Akihiko." Esse smiled. "I'm sure we'll meet up again anyway."

" Why would we not let you leave?" Des asked. He looked at Esse then chuckled. " Ok, I can see where you'd get that idea. We know this is a temperary arrangement so you shouldn't have any trouble leaving other than sentimental."

Esse giggled. "Though surely you can't blame me for crying over a friend who is leaving? I'm still just a little girl after all!"

The pegicorn smiled. "There is a long way to go yet. Look there is the river."
The river was fast flowing, tumbling and scittering over the rocks on teh river bed. It was wide, all though it was narrow in comparison about 5 minutes walk up stream, which was just visible.
The foliage was dense, meaning that the walk upstream would be hard, but there didn't seem to be anything strong enough to hold a rope. An extra 10 metres or so would be needed to reach the trees on either side.

Des looked around, scanning the area for the best way to cross. " The way I see it we have a few choices" He said. " We can hop across rocks and pray we don't , we can weave some of the younger foilage into a temerary raft, or we can chop a tree down for a bridge." The last option made Des slightly shudder.

"Well chopping a tree down, even if we wanted to, isn't the best idea. It'd have to be a really big tree to support our weight and that would take a long time. Raft would fall apart from the swift current... rocks sounds best but dangerous. They're very slippery and we could just as easily fall in and be carried away as any other option."

"So basically we're screwed in any scenario?" Des asked. He began to look around for anything that may offer a solution. "I'm kind of stumped. I could probably carry you across by flying across the water but I'm not acustomed to passengers and we may fall in. Us falling in together is worst case scenario."
