Asim smiled, looking up at the birds flying through the canopy. "Isn't this great?"
"You're way to optimistic, Asim. It's creeping me out..." Zyg said with shrug.
"Hey! It's not my fault! I'm hyper from sleeping a lot!" he complained. He ran a hand along some tree bark as they passed by another cluster of never ending tall trees. "Besides, it's a forest. I'm a wolf. Of course I'd be happy."
"A forest full of dark, creepy, deadly animals," Zyg again argued.

"I think it's beautiful here. You just have to be careful. The way the shafts of light light up the floor is just wonderful. And the leaves under your feet..." Tamara smiled at Asim.

Asim stuck out his tongue at Zyg. "See? Tam agrees with me!" He flashed a grin at her. "I'm glad somebody does!"
Zygandelth laughed, "Alright alright... I guess my opinion is out-numbered then. In any case we have to keep moving for a while. Who knows what kind of creatures will get a hold of us if we don't? Derab are famous for being around these parts. So are Floxxus and Zintelii." He paused and watched a small creature skitter by. "At least the mousaokits are harmless."

"They are very cute though." Tamara's hand went to her pendant, and she rolled in between her fingers, as she had a tendancy to do when she was scared, nervous or thinking. She continued to walk. "We should stay together."

"Cute but probably good-tasting," Zyg smirked. Before anyone could reply he put his hands up innocently. "Just kidding! Don't go yelling at me for wanting to eat something 'cute'! ...You're right though. We should stay together."
"Mhm... Don't want any of us running off and getting hurt," Asim agreed.

Tamara turned to Zyg. "I'm not that kind of girl. I eat living things when it is nessecary and at no other time. I do not take more than I need, but I won't not eat something because it is cute. Should we eat eel more often than Mousoakit because it doesn't look as cute? I think that you eat meat because you have to, and then you eat what is most nutritional, or catchable, and you balance your reasons, and otherwise you eat vegetables, plants, fruit and nuts." She looked at Zyg and then at Asim. Her face flushed with colour, and her eyes where bright, embarrased at her outburst. She turned away and walked slightly faster, so that she was ahead of the other two and they couldn't see her face.

Zyg flashed a grin. "Well it's nice to know somebody appreciates the opinion of somebody who wants to live and not starve to death!"
Asim sort of smiled. He trotted up beside her and nodded. "I feel the same though in my own sense. Being a wolf I have the opinion that the hunter and the prey are actually of one being but different parts... and eventually when I die I will replace what I have taken."

She smiled at Asim, and continued walking side by side with him.
"What was your life like before you came to the mainland?" she asked curiously.

Asim was quiet for a moment, closing his eyes as he walked. "Hard I guess. It's natural survival, live or die. It was harsh at times and the weather decided how you had to hunt...or if you did at all. You could go days without food sometimes. It wasn't all bad though." He reopened them with a bright smile. "Packs are tight-nit and very loving. They're supportive in every way. You'd never know unless you had to live in one... Every single scrap of food is shared though in a hierarchy. Alphas first then the betas all the way to omegas eating last. It was an environment of absolute respect."

"You mean... If you were lowest in the pack, and there wasn't much food, you didn't get any. How is that fair?" Tamara asked.

"By nature's standards it is. Survival of the fittest. However, our pack was a bit more adjustable. We'd make sure everyone ate enough to keep them going even if it meant sacrificing some of the amount each individual got," Asim explained. "Problem is once I found out I was able to change to Zayrena I left. I had two mind-sets now. I could see from the point of view of a wolf being 'survival of the fittest' but I could also see a person's perception of 'that's cruel'. It's kind of mental torture until you get used to it."

"I guess it seems quite simple sometimes, until you feel everyone's view point. It's good to understand why others do what they do." Tamara walked in silence for a bit. Eventually she turned to Asim again. "I guess survival of the fittest is what we have to live in now."

"Then we'll depend on me when we need to," Asim nodded. "Don't worry..." A blush came to his face and he looked away a little bit. "I won't let you get hurt by anything."
Zyg rolled his eyes but remained silent. 'Let him have his moment' was the Luparis' opinion.

Tamara smiled. "I've looked after myself so far, and I've had encounters with dragons, been imprisoned, and fought my own battles. I think we will be by far the strongest if we work in a team."

Asim again nodded. "Well we've got my natural instincts, your experience, and Zyg's...?" "We have my dexterity." Zyg offered. "Being a theif for years has one advantage: You know how to make stuff when you need it."
