Jyotic sat on the ground, and leaned his back against one of the crumbling brick walls around him. He remembered what it had been like before Amett had come, and remembered the pain that had been here before his evil had swept across the land. Tears started to well up in his eyes. It was all people seemed capable of, death and destruction. No-one did anything good any more.
Kjara flew down from the tress and landed softly of the ground infront of him. <Don't cry,> she told him, the words echoing around Jyotic's head but not disturbing the silence of the forest. <We will change things. We came here to find the Stone Legend, and to assemble the story again. We came to find more of the crystal shards, and stop Amett from taking over. We can change things.>
Jyotic didn't look convinced. <Don't despair> she said, and crept closer. She curled up her serpentine body beside him and he rested his hand on her scales.
"You still have your saddle on," he said to her quietly. "Here, let me take it off." He quickly and efficently unded the buckles and slipped off the straps. He took the saddle off her back and lay it down next to her. "There."
<Thank you> she told him, silently.
Jyotic stood. "I'm going to collect some firewood he said and started to move off into the trees, collecting bits of wood, and small sticks. It was hard to find large logs that were dry enough, but Jyotic found a few, and Kjara helped him carry them back to the fire.
Jyotic arranged some of the smaller sticks and logs in a small pile, and Kjara blew fire onto them to get the blaze start. Soon the two of them lay side by side, by a roaring, crackling fire, talking quietly as the first stars appeared in the sky above.

There was a quiet rustling nearby and the sounds of claws skittering across the surrounding stone. The sound echoed throughout the ruins, making whatever it was causing the sound appear to be more than one creature.
::Options:: Do you... Choose to inspect the source of the noise and preceed inside of the ruins? Decide nothing of it and camp for the night to regain your energy lost from traveling?

<What was that. No, don't answer, just keep quiet.> Kjara elegently stood, and look into the trees. <I can't see anything. Can you put my saddle on?>
Jyotic stood, just as swifly as Kjara had, and picked up her saddle. He slipped it over her back and tied the straps which ran underneath her. He pulled the stirrups down to the correct length. He slipped his left foot into the stirrup, and swung himself up onto her back.
<Let's go and have a look at what that was> Kjara told him. She took off into the air, staying close to the ground and weaving between the trees. As they got close to the noise, she alighted on a branch, and together they looked down.

The only thing visible was a large hole in the ground. The scratching was louder near the hole, making it apparent that whatever had made the sound had gone down. Other noises that could easily chill the blood and send a nervousness down the spine could also be heard floating upwards from the darkness on a breeze. It sounded like a fight, screeching and screaming floating up over the scratching.

<I'm taking you back to the camp. You guard our things while I go down and have a look.> "I can walk back to the camp. I know where we are, and it won't take me more than 2 minutes. You go ahead and have a look, meet me at the camp." whispered Jyotic.
Kjara flew down to the forest floor, where Jyotic dismounted. He began to take the saddle off, but was interupted by Kjara. <Don't, there is no time> she told him. She nudged him softly with her head, her sign of affection, and then she flew over to the hole.
She spread her wings and stepped into the hole, before bringing them close to her, and beginning to fall.
Jyotic made his way back to the camp, climbing over the rocks and stones. He looked at the landscape he had before seen from above. It always suprised him how different things looked from the ground. He confidently made way, moving in the right direction.

The landscape had changed so much since the years of Amaru... the shadows had engulfed most of the region, even from the ground. In the sky, however, it was even worse. One could see how bad things had become. Comparing the two one was unsure which was better than the other.
(Sorry for the shortness x.x)

Kjara swooped down into the whole and reached the bottom, just as Jyotic reached the camp. Jyotic sat down on a log, and fed a few more onto the fire. Everything was just as they'd left it. He loosened his sword in its scabbard on his hip, and took the shield out completely, leaning it against his leg. He also picked up his bow, and slung the quiver across his back. Without Kjara beside him, he wanted to be ready.
Kjara landed on all fours, and looked around her...

As the darkness swallowed the dragon, the sounds became louder. She suddenly stopped falling... but hadn't hit the stone ground. A roar from in front of her showed she'd landed on the back of some kind of animal which didn't seem too happy. It flapped its great wings and then suddenly dipped into a spiral, intending to surely splatter Kjara on the floor.

Jyotic grabbed some sticks, and he threw them on the fire. The shadow of night was cold, and Jyotic thought the brightness of the fire would dispell some creatures, although he knew it may attract others. He also wanted to eat a warm meal. He pulled some food out of his backpack, and pushed it onto a long sick. He then hacked to branches off a tree with his sword. He dug them into the ground with his hands, and then suspended the branch with food on it in the Y shape, at the top of each carefully chosed branch. He settled back, and watched the vegetables over the fire. Every now and then he turned them round, but he constantly kept his weapons out beside him.
Kjara scrabbled for a hold on the creatures back. She spread her wings a little, to give her more stability, and clung on to the creature's skin as they spiralled towards the floor.

The creature screeched loudly and then pulled out of the dive, gliding neatly along the floor. It was a perfect chance to either get off or continue holding on for the ride.
Meanwhile, on the surface, there was more of the scratching noises. A small animal that resembled a mouse combined with a rabbit hopped into view. It had a long tail like a mouse but it was fluffy, which it twitched as it stared at Jyotic.

Jyotic stared right back at the mouse. He didn't think it was a threat, but kept one hand on his sword just in case. He also kept an eye on his bow. He smiled a little, and then noticed that the vegetables he had put over the fire were starting to blacken. He picked up the stick with one hand (keeping the other on his sword) and he started to eat slowly.
Kjara held her footing as the creature swooped out of the dive. She thought about leaving the creature, but decided that she should try an discover more about it. She sent a quick message to Jyotic before continuing on her journey.
<I found something, I'm not sure what... I'm going to stick with it and try and discover more about it. I'll catch my own meal when I get back. Don't worry about saving me food.>

The mouse scrambled over and sat on a log near the fire, its fur surprisingly resistant despite it nearly touching the flames. It continued to stare at Jyotic even as he ate. Its large eyes glimmered in the light which made the small creature look eerie.
The creature that Kjara was currently riding growled and turned its head to snap at her. It resembled a bird mixed with a dragon, having a nearly serpentine body with two overly large dragon wings. Instead of the leathery membranes, however, it was connected with feathers. The animal's body was scaled except on the tip of its tail and down its back where deep blue feathers also grew. It had a beak, but it was filled with deadly sharp teeth unlike a bird which wouldn't have any.

Jyotic stared right back at the little mouse, and then threw it a little piece of pepper off the end of the stick. "There, you can have that." he said, outloud. He chewed on a bit of mushroom, and thought for a while. He believed that Kjara had the strength to come back, if not unharmed, not fatally injured either. He thought more about what it was that they had heard, and what she might find. He hoped that she would message him again soon, although he would be unable to reply.
Kjara snapped her teeth, and dug her claws a little into the creatures skin. It was a warning, just a little message saying 'I can harm you'. She pulled her claws out again, and settled back into her previous position. She wasn't going to leave this journey now unless she was thrown off, or the creature, what ever it was, came to a halt.

The tiny mouse-like creature squeaked and picked up the pepper in its front paws, balancing on its overly large hind feet. It nibbled on the pepper for a bit before suddenly becoming still and sniffing the air.
It made the roaring-screech noise again and tried to throw Kjara. After it earned another jab with her talons it stopped fighting her and just flew. It landed roughly on the stone floor and just sat there, the now silent darkness enveloping everything. The only sounds came from wing beats and the skittering of the occasional animal running across the flagstones.

Kjara slipped off, keeping her wings ready for take off. She blew some fire in an attempt to lighten the place, and see what was hiding in the darkness...
