Kjara looked down at Kintir. She pushed him gently with her forepaw. <No more. Be quiet. You can have some of the stew when it's finished.> She swung the pot over the hearth, and began to cook the meat adding water and herbs. She put some of the vegetables in the pot, pushing in half of what she had prepared in. She looked down at Kintir who was looking expectantly up at her. She laughed, and threw a little piece of pepper down at the mouse. <Last piece,> she said, and then turned to Jyotic.
<We have one piece, do we carry on and look for the rest?>

He squeaked, though this was a happy one rather than one of demanding. Kintir held the tiny piece of pepper as if it were a gemstone, close to himself and quite protectively until he raised it up to his mouth and began to bite off bits of it.

Kjara and Jyotic had a good and comfortable night. They had decided to look for the remaining pieces, but first they had to translate the first piece they had found. Kjara spent the next day pouring over the little notepad, slowly put surely translating the runes until she had a completed translation infront of them.
<From what I can make out, I think the next piece is in Seido...>
"Are we going there next then. We should get going before it gets dark." Jyotic packed his things, and packed extra food as well. They left the cave and moved round to one side, to a hole in the cloud. Jyotic mounted on Kjara's back and held out his palm for Kintir to climb onto.

Kintir agilely hopped up Kjara's tail and onto Jyotic's palm, wiping the small bits of pepper off his face with a contented expression. He sat there for a little bit before he jumped to Jyotic's shoulder, figuring it would be a better ride there.

Jyotic laughed, and pulled the mousaokit off his shoulder, holding him gently in a fist. Kjara scolded the mouse. <You'll fall off if you sit there silly, like you nearly did last time.> She laughed softly, her tone harmonising perfectly with Jyotic's, and then she flipped over and dived into the hole, soaring down to where the river was below. <We can follow the river down to Seido, it would be easier that fly this high all the way. She landed on the water and tucked her legs underneath her, letting herself float down stream like a boat. Power over water had some benefits.

The mousaokit blinked as if he didn't understand or was ignoring their demand, but he didn't struggle. Kintir wrapped his tail around Jyotic's wrist and waited to be let go.

Jyotic didn't let go, but continued holding Kintir gently in his fist. He gripped with only his knees, as he usually did. Kjara said to Kintir, <You have to get used to it. This is how you have to be everytime we fly, and seeing as we are floating at the moment, we don't want you falling in the water do we?>
She kicked her legs softly under the water, and they moved a little faster down stream. <Relax, little one,> she thought to Kintir.

Kintir relaxed himself and let go of Jyotic's wrist, shifting his attention to the water below. He seemed highly perplexed by the large reflective surface... most likely because the most water he had seen was rain leaked through the Ruins.

Jyotic reached out of Kjara's back and, held Kintir close to the water, so that his big feet were just touching the surface. They were still moving slowly downstream, hoping they didn't hit rapids or any enemies.

"Eep!" he squeaked, pulling his feet from the water. Blinking in curiousness, he dipped them back in and allowed Jyotic to hold him over it.

Kjara laughed her soft laughed, as Kintir squealed. Jyotic pulled him out the water, and lifted Kintir up onto his shoulder, letting him run around, up and down his arms. <I still hope there are no rapids, I'm a little tired for rapid riding. Maybe we should stop soon, get a good nights sleep, so we a prepared to fight, if we have too.>

As if in response to the 'sleep' comment, Kintir yawned. He pressed himself down on Jyotic's shoulder so there would be less chance of falling off and curled up. He kept twitching his whiskers every once in a while so he was still awake, listening.

Kjara laughed again. <Put him on by neck, then you can sleep too. I can keep going for a while, and then while I sleep, you can watch over me, so that we keep guard.> Jyotic smiled. "Yes OK. I could do with a rest, we really should have left earlier in the day. He picked the mousaokit off his shoulder, and lay him down between Kjara's wings. He pulled his legs up from the saddle and slipped them backwards so that he was lying along Kjara's back. He nudged Kintir slightly, trying to persuade him to move so that he could lie down completely.

Kintir got up and stood on his hind legs, looking around rapidly. When he realized it was just Jyotic, he moved out of the way with a squeak that could be interpreted as an apology.

Jyotic stroked it a little and then began to fall asleep. Kjara continued to float down the river, carefully keeping an eye out for any rocks.
