Tansa screeched, jumping off with her fur raised and coughing as she landed beside Natsumi. There has to be a way...to avoid this... She tried to think of something...anything, when it suddenly came to her. "You can't attack my mind... if I don't have one." If I can shift halfway, maybe, just maybe...I can get enough of the black roc form to help me... Again attempting to shift, it happened slow enough to be seen. Feathers grew from the end of her tail and her hind legs became like bird talons while tough scales covered her underbelly. The fur down her back became thin and sleek, some of it changing to feathers. But it stopped there.

She again went for pain sensors... The half-shift numbed pain but it didn't end it. "Writhe asbI crush you! Do you feel tortured?"

"No! You can't win!" Tansa growled in frustration as she tried harder to shift and ignore the pain. The rest of the fur down her back changed to feathers and spikes formed down the back of her neck, but she could go no further. ...It worked! she thought, surprised. Hah! Now your ability IS useless. Stupid Saikana should've known powers that harm through the mind are useless against Shifters. She'll have to come up with something else.

Sumi jumped to her feet. Since the Shifter had jumped back when she had landed the kick she was now free. She gripped her sword like it was her life's blood then took a deep, flared-nostriled and worried kind of breath. She felt it spread over her body, the black tattoo marking on her arm lighting from beneath the skin. It pulsed red and black. The black shell on her forehead on its silver band started to glow faintly too. Her eyes now were black. No more purple, no more inky look. She glared. "I can and will." she hissed.

This is getting annoying, Tansa thought. And I'm sure I look like a freak right now. That's not cool. Half cat, half roc... wait a minute, half roc. That means I can teleport or something, right? I can escape this annoyance and get right to the Stone Legend. Pathetic fishy isn't going to 'force obedience' with any of her little powers anyway.

She glared hard, staring with her void-like eyes. What is this stupid cat thinking...? Lord Amett's seals were meant to hold me back. Now they're broken...kind of. Hmph. She's dead meat now. I WILL make her obey me. He'll kill us both if she doesn't.

((Just cause its been over a week since we last rped, I'm gonna say they were taking a break from searching for a while and just coming back to the ruins now))

Tansa quietly made her way back through the thick forest until the familiar sight of the Ruins of Time came into view between the trees. She didn't look back to see if Natsumi was still with her as she bounded ahead, leaping over fallen pillars and bricks as she headed toward the entrance used in her last visit. Only when she reached it did she stop, sitting down and staring into the dark building.

Natsumi jumped nimbly and landed with a soft little tap as her feet hit the ground. She stopped just behind Tansa and then shoved the cat out of the way, squeezing into the entrance. "Come on, scaredy cat..." she muttered as she walked through the darkness.

Tansa followed close behind Natsumi, going through the entrance right after her. "I hope you have some idea of where we're headed this time? Or are you going to lead us in circles for hours on end yet again?"

Tansa hissed, showing she was annoyed as well. "I can smell where we've been already. The scent is faint, but it's still there. And if you haven't noticed, Fishy, everything in here looks the same. That's why you got us lost in the first place."

Sumi ignored her, walking through the various hallways until she hear screeching noises again. Instead of going away from it this time she followed the sound. Soon a giant hole came into view. She peered down but only saw blackness...
