She whined until her airway was so constricted she couldn't do anything. She laid flat, feeling she was being dragged along the ground on her stomach. Her tail and ears remained flat.

Star kicked the puppy harder and lifted it up, so that it couldn't restrict its airway. She carried it until they were well away from the dead body, and then stroked it gently, scratching its ears and tickled it under the chin.

She yelped and growled in protest when she picked it up. Once she couldn't smell the blood anymore, the pup calmed down. She whined lowly, her tail slapping against Star as she was stroked.

Star continued to stroke the puppy. She stood still and held the pup in her arms. She let her bag slide off her shoulder and lowered to the floor, still scratching the pup.

She curled up, done being upset. The puppy opened her eyes and look up now. Gewd... she promised, her baby language hard to understand.

Star smiled. "Good. I'm glad your done being upset." She dropped the puppy again, and shouldered her pack, continuing her walk.

The little dire wolf continued to walk after Star. She bounced along and ran after Star, sticking close to the girl's leg. She sniffed the air as she did, trying to memorize Star's scent.

Star started getting annoyed and began to run, starting to jog quickly through the forest. She wanted the puppy to have to concentrate on running, and her long thin legs gave her an advantage.

She let out a little yip and chased after Star. The concentration had indeed easily been shifted from sniffing to running. She had a hard timing keeping up, however. While Star had long legs, the puppy had short stubby legs.

Star didn't slow her pace, but relentlessly kept pounding through the woods. She ran until she stumbled across the first section of the ruins, at which point she slowed down.

The puppy panted as she ran, trying to keep up with Star. Her tongue hung out of her mouth, dripping drool on the forest floor. She was exhausted from the sudden expense of energy.

Star didn't wait for the pup but strode off into the ruins. She found a spot that looked as if a lot of people passed through. She dropped her bag, and started collecting twigs, extending the rope in her hand and encouraging the pup to do the same, hoping it would bring back some small kindling. She still thought of the puppy as it.

She started sniffing the wood, getting the idea of what Star wanted her to do. She yelped and grabbed some sticks in her mouth, bringing the tiny pieces over and dropping them in a pile near Star's wood.

Star gave the pup a scratch, and then pushed it off to collect some more, tying the rope round a tree so she had both hands to collect wood. She collected some really big pieces stacking them up in a pile.

The puppy continued to walk around and find the little twigs. She gave up after she couldn't find many more and yipped, laying down on her side.
