Tansa watched as DG rose into the sky and she took off at a run, keeping her gaze on him. I've never seen a bird like that... it's so fast, she thought to herself.

DG rose up until the ground was barely visible from the ground. Am I too high up to keep an eye on, Tansa? he asked. He wanted to be sure he didn't leave her behind.
Ivy held on tight to his feathers, enjoying the soft feeling between her fingers. She had never flown before.

She stared up at the night sky. DG was far away, but the moonlight seemed to make his feathers glow. I can still see you, she told him.

Alright, as long you can still see me we're fine. Let me know if you ever lose me. DG replied with a kind of tack-on mental note that gave the effect of a nod.
Natsumi sharply kicked Tansa. "Falling behind again, lazy cat. Can't you move any faster?"
Ivy looked down at the two. DG, can Tansa try to shift into a bird? It'd be easier. But she refused to shift though.

"No, I can't move any faster," Tansa snapped, growling. Who's the lazy one? Stupid fish is getting a free ride... She tried to run faster but her paws kept slipping in the deep sand, making it difficult.

"Then why are you even useful in anyway?" Natsumi rolled her eyes. Failure Shifter.
DG shook his head, replying out loud since the wind would carry his voice back to Ivy. "She can shift but it's harder for her than me. I'm naturally talented at taking new forms...plus her flying form is fast but too small to carry Natsumi. I can't carry you both as a Windroc either."
Ivy sighed. Oh..

"At least I don't fail at everything like you do," she said angrily to Natsumi. She gave up trying to move any faster and returned to a slower pace that made it easier to run in the sand.

Natsumi smirked. "Not quite. I got us through the Ruins of Time and I got us through the forest. All you've done is argue with me the whole time."
Fishy annoying you yet? DG asked Tansa before he again went back to speaking to Ivy. "Yeah so it's useless for her to be able to. However we know we can last a day in the desert now. While we want to get out as soon as we can we can survive."
Ivy overheard thier conversation mentally. She sorta giggled.

"You'd have never gotten to the Stone Legend without me since you're not even smart enough to speak Amarian." The fish is always annoying, Tansa told DG. She sighed loudly in annoyance and managed to pick up the pace a little, racing up a tall, steep hill, but when she reached the top, she leaped.

Ivy got a bit bored, so she whipped out a piece of paper and a graphite stub to write with. She thought of something to do. How about... I try to make a spell? It won't work though, but it's worth a try. I mean, I've always dreamed of doing magic. But I always failed at it. She thought, smiling at the idea. Let's see. How about, a shield kind of thing? That could be useful. Ivy then thought of herself being protected by a shield of light magic. She closed her eyes and focused. Then all of the sudden, she felt completely protected. Huh? Whats this weird feeling? She opened her eyes, then she gasped. A purple force field like shield was around her and DG. "D-D-DG! Look!" Ivy poked him. "Did I do that?" She asked confused. She then stuck her hand through it. I can go through it? But can other things get into it? Is this a power of mine? Do I have more? she thought to herself.
DG blinked, noticing the purple field. "Woah..." Tansa! Can you see what Ivy just did?

Tansa didn't hear DG's thoughts. She was deep in concentration as she came down after the leap, but just before crashing to the ground she shifted. It was a strange form that she took, half blackroc and half cat, just like her failed attempt at a full blackroc that she'd done back in the ruins. But this time it was done on purpose. A strong gust of wind caught her outspread wings, making her rise a little and gain speed. Crap...I don't know how to fly as this thing...

Sumi gripped even tighter. "Hey idiot, I hope you know how to handle yourself in this form or we're both going to die."
DG looked over at her as she flew up into the air. "That has to be the weirdest thing I've ever seen... but at least it's able to keep up with me." He looked at the purple around himself again. "Hey Ivy, what the heck DID you do anyway?"
Ivy smirked. 'Its a shield. We can attack from it but nothing else can get in." She then looked at Natsumi. "Hey, Sumi! Catch this rock! Then throw it back up to me." Ivy let the rock go. DG, if she throws it back up at us, and it hits the shield and bounces off, I can use this to protect us from anything. She thought to him.
Natsumi easily grabbed it from the air and threw it at Ivy with surprising force. It had to have come from the practice with the whip.

Tansa clumsily changed wind currents, swerving as they caught her wings at all the wrong angles. She was off balance from Natsumi being on her back, but she'd have had problems alone as well; she'd never flown as anything besides a bird. Eventually she managed to reach the height DG was flying at and her eyes widened when she looked down and realized how high she was. Oh crap!

The rock bounced off and Sumi caught it again. "So you ARE useful for once...but how far can you project that stupid shield thingie? It's pointless if you can only protect yourself and whoever you're super close to."
DG looked over at Tansa. "Angle your wings more like mine. It'll help you keep your balance better."
Ivy concentrated more. Soon enough the shield expanded about five dragon tails out. It sucked Tansa and Sumi into itself. Ivy held it there. "Is that big enough?" She asked, cracking her fingers. Wow! I'm cool for once? Maybe I can make even more spells...

Tansa tried to get her wings in the same position as DG's, but she kept tilting to the sides from the strong wind. The energy shield startled her as it surrounded her and without thinking, she pulled her wings in against her body, causing her to drop out of it. Only once out of the shield's range did she realize what she had done and quickly spread her wings again, trying to balance herself on the current once more.
