The Red Thorn Lizard looked around till it spotted Star. He grimmaced at her. I am an old male hatchling. He said. I have lost my territory to a younger one, now I search for a male older and weaker than myself so that I might take his. He continued walking, ignoring Star and Accalia.
Looks like he doesn't care about hurting us any. Accalia said. Should we just ignore him?

Star nodded briefly, and continued walking towards the mountain, indicating to Accalia that she should follow.

(no prob)
The Red Thorn Lizard stopped and waited for Star to pass behind him. He turn and ran towards them, jaws open and ready to bite. Your a fool young hatchling. He said as the distance between them became increasingly short. The loss of my territory also meant loss of food, and now your it.
Accalia turned at the lizard's words to find him sprinting towards them faster than his appearance would let one think. She growled and and glanced in Star's direction. Now we have a problem. She said.

Star turned around. Not really..., she said calmly, before bending low and swinging a kick at the Red Thorn Lizards head. The Red Thorn Lizard had also proved is intelligence, so she wasn't really expecting it to connect, but it gave her a second to draw her blade, Jato.
Get back! she snapped at Accalia.
She held the blade in two hands, and reached for the tendrils of dark magic that were held within it. Jato has never drawn blood before, and is hungry. She warned the Red THorn Lizard.

Accalia whimpered and dashed behind Star. She gave a low growl at the Red thorn Lizard.
The Lizard moved it's slinder body around Star's leg and made way for her other leg, jaws open. His teeth closed around it briefly before he let go and began to circle Star. I see, this i a contest of two hungers. He said. Your blade's against my own.

Star drew her leg away, almost loosing her balance. The jaws of the lizard briefly caught her leg. She began to circle the thorn lizard, her weight forwards and well balanced.
Further away She snapped again at Accalia, still relentlesy circling.
Without warning, her sword hand flicked out. She had worked hard so that her body didn't give a warning, and she could do it well. She brought the blade sweeping down towards the belly of the thorn lizard. Better to aim for the widest target.

the sword cut at the lizard's belly. It gave a groan then hissed. he turned his body and whipped his tail at Star's legs, hoping to bring her down to his level so he could deliver the possibly fatal bite.
Accalia growled at the lizard but did as Star told. She didn't want to get punished when the battle was over. She backed off a good 10 feet from the fight and watched.

Star saw the tail swinging towards her, and pushed off the ground, neatly clearing it. She landed firmly, instinctivly regaining her balance. She noticed Accalia out of the corner of her eye and was satisfied.
She swung the blade again. The Lizard was moving slower now, so she aimed for the neck. It would be better to kill this creature now.

The old lizard turned, slower from blood loss. He was met in the neck by Star's blade. He let out a hissing gasp. It seems the hunger of your blade was greater than my own. He said before the blade finished the cut. It cut clean through, the lizard's head rolled away. The body collapsed, a river of blood flowing from the neck onto the desert sands.

Star wiped her blade on the sand, trying to get the blood off. She sheathed it slowly and looked at the lizard. "There is no meat there, and we still have some in store. Let's keep moving."
She walked on again, the death of the lizard hadn't bothered her at all.

Accalia sniffed the body of the dead lizard and gave it a god scratch before following Star. Well that was a waste of time. she noted.
Some of the night had passed during the battle. the moon took a new place in the sky. The dawn would soon arrive with the heat of day not far behind.

Star looked up, and sniffed the air slightly. "The dawn should arrive soon. We should find shelter. It is very unlikely that we won't find a cave again tonight. The desert used to be full of them, and the sand doens't move that much. Let's keep walking a little."
She nodded at Accalia. "Yes, that was a waste of time. The lizard should have known better."

Accalia walked up beside Star. So why couldn't I help? She asked. She wanted to prove her training was paying off. How could she if she didn't at least fight the easy opponent?

You aren't strong enough. Star said bluntly.
She returned to normal speech. "Let's keep going..." She walked still more briskly.

(Good to have you back Tam)
Accalia was a little insulted. If she was able to fight a dying lizard then who could she fight? She stepped up her pace to keep up with Star. She looked across the horizon and saw nothing but sand and a few cacti.
