Star walked for a little while, noticing that the tree trunks of treefell where becoming further and further apart and now there tended to be sand inbetween, rather than the coarse short grass that was there before.
Star walked on. The stumps ended and suddenly there was just sand before her. She looked at the wide expanse before her. She could just make out what she thought was the mountain through the haze. That is where the hero will be heading, she thought.
She looked back from the edge of the sand. It felt like a turning point. With Accalia at her heels she stepped out into the golden sand. The sun was just rising so the sand was still cool. However, Star realised that that powerful sun warmed up the landscape very quickly, and that she should cover as much distance now as she could in the next two or so hours.
She tugged on Accalia's lead, striding off into the sand, a warm breeze causing her hair and clothes to billow out behind her. She walked fast, keeping a rythmic pace. She walked for a little while, annoyed that she couldn't change infront of Accalia if she wanted to be able to keep her cover. It would be so much easier to cross as a bird, or at least as a creature that belonged here.
She was seriously considering changing anyway, but she knew that having a dire wolf on her side would be a good thing, and she needed to keep that advantage. So instead she simply kept walking, keeping up the speed. Other humans had crossed this landscape before so why shouldn't she be able to?
She felt the sand warming up slowly as she walked. Maybe she wouldn't even have the two hours she originally thought. If I see decent shelter, I'll stop, she decided.

A dry wind blows the sand across the desert. The cool morning fog is retreating and now scarce. Before Star lied few things but dunes and cacti. Little animals scattered, escaping the burning heat they knew was to come.
Accalia kept up the pace the best she could, panting from the rising heat and excercise. the water weighing her down was bad enough but the san was begining to feel too hot under her bare paws.

"Last time there where large rocks..." Star said absent mindidly. "We can't carry on like this."
She moved closer to a cactus, and took off her pack. She pulled the rods out that held it together and set them up as posts. Then she pulled off the canvas outing, her few thing spilling into the sand. She threw it over the poles and tied it down securely. It was dark inside, but it provided shelter from the sun.

The wind begins to pick up, shifting the sands. Stones get uncovered but are covered again quickly. The sands around the shade get hotter as does the air in the shade. The dry air sucks the moister from your skin, taking the sweat almost as fast as it can be made.
Accalia collapsed under the shade, panting hard. She looked at Star, grateful for once. She was a bit angry for Star dragging her there in the first place bu it was lost in the heat.

Star took off the collar and the water bottle. She gave Accalia a small drink, and had a small drink herself. She pulled the cover completely closed and curled up on the ground. She felt hungry, but she didn't have that much food left in her pack and she didn't want to waste it. I'll have some before we start walking again, she thought carefully.
She looked at Accalia who looked tired and weak. She has a hard time ahead of her. Star almost felt sorry for the pup.

The air inside cools down slowly as it's connection to the hot dry outside is severed.
Accalia drank happily then setteld down in the shade, resting while she could. Her stomach grumbled and she realized she hadn't eaten the night before. Looks like I won't tonight either. She thought. I wonder if I can convence her to let me go hunting.

Star slept soundly, waking only when the afternoon light faded and the sky began to go dark. She rolled to her feet, stomach grumbling. "We should walk now. We will eat when it gets fully dark."
She quickly put away the makeshift camp and pulled her pack onto her back.

The sky was a mixture of orange and deep purple as the sun set. The air was much cooler and the wind dies down. Animals start to come out of hiding, going in the cool evening air to hunt and forge.
Accalia yawned and stretched as she got up. She walked over to Star and waited to be set up with her water and collar. How far are we going tonight? She asked.

Star smiled, putting the collar on but tucking the water into her own pack. We are going as far as possible before it gets too dark to see anymore. If the stars are bright we walk all night, and then sleep during the day. We'll stop somewhere and have at about midnight if we are going to keep walking.
Star shook herself, performing a few quick stretches. Come on then.

Th sun was now over the western moutain range, leaving only a faint halo of light.
Accalia gave her tail a wag, glad Star was taking some of her load. What will we do to keep our food supply up? She asked as she followed. She was starting to feel her hunger with out sleep to distract her. If she ate a big enough meal she could go for awhile without food, but her small rations made her vulnerable.

"We will eat very little. There is nothing else we can do here. We must hope that we reach the mountain, which the heroes will also be heading for no doubt, before we run out."
Star strode into the sand. The small amount of water made no difference to her. She was strong enough that she didn't even notice. But it made a lot of difference to the dire wolf pup, and there was nothing she could do with a dead pup, except eat it maybe.

Night had fallen and the stars could be sen clearly in the cool desert air. The wind is done for the night and the dunes are still except of the small desert animals creeping about.
How long do you think it will take us? Accalia asked. She liked the desert night air. Much better for travelling. She thought to herself. then wondered how her mother would visit her. She only would come when Star was gone and they would spend the whole day in their make shift shelter. the thought of not seeing her mother for awhile saddened her.

"I don't know exactly. Two days, maybe three. We have enough food for three days, so if everything goes smoothly we will be fine. If we get caught in a sand storm however, you can be stuck for a week or more. I don't know what we would do then."
Star was lying, she knew exactly what she would do. She was more important, she wasn't going to starve with the wolf. She would kill Accalia. A fire would be easy in these conditions.
"I hope we find some better shelter tomorrow. I don't particularly want to have to share such a small space again."

(When is Seido's rainy season?)
The night goes on uneventful for awhile. Sudenly in the distance you spy a lone Red Thorn Lizard wondering about. It seems to be a bit on the old side and damaged, as if it recently lost it's territory.
Accalia looked at Star questioningly. What do you want to do? She asked.

(Uuhh... that's a good question. I'll ask Kayla.)
Star looked at it. "It looks injured." She switched her voice, still staying well away from the Red Thorn Lizzard, knowing that they could be agressive. What's up with you?
