Sand Under Paws

[Hanna]

"So you expect DG and I to transform into imaginary dog monsters and walk through the lava?" Tansa asked Ivy. "I don't think so."

[Kayla]

DG replied out loud since he saw no reason to do so mentally."It doesn't matter if they're friendly Ivy...if I see one I can turn into it."

Ivy just sighed. "Well, then. I'll just have to show you one." She snarled quietly. She then noticed that they were getting a lot closer to the mountain.

"If one comes near me I'm going to kick it," Sumi snapped in annoyance. Or toss it into the lava with Tansa...but with their apparent heat resistance it won't work. Maybe I can drag one to Hoku and freeze it to death? That might be more fun. I could drop it in a frozen lake.

[Hanna]

Tansa looked ahead. She, too, noticed how close they were then. "How much longer?"

[Kayla]

"Who cares?" DG asked. "We're close enough that we don't have to worry... but once we get there I suggest we rest before we get into the volcano itself. Fighting a Roca or anything we run into will be harder if hunger nags us. Plus the lesser in strength-Natsumi-among us will need food and sleep. Ivy will probably need rest too. Shifters can keep their movements sharp but even with a knife to defend her she can't be lightening fast if her senses are slow from lack of-"

"Enough of the smart-guy rant! We get the point!" Natsumi cut in. "Now SHUT up before I MAKE you." That's it...he's getting thrown into the lava too. He should be more of a challenge than Tansa. He has more forms. If he can become a Roca he'll be safe against it. Maybe I can trap him?

Ivy just ignored the conversation around her. She then pulled out her sack and began to tweak her spell she just made.

[Hanna]

"DG is right, Fishy. You and Ivy will slow us down too much, so I guess we HAVE to waste time to let you rest," she said to Natsumi.

[Kayla]

Natsumi muttered a few more curse words, some of which were inaudible. One could assume the majority were directed at Tansa and contained a violent nature. Wasting time? Slow them down? Hmph. If I get the chance...no, WHEN I do... they're dead. All of them. I'll make them beg. So what if Tansa's immune to my ability? I'll throw her in the lava and watch her burn. I'll stab Ivy until my blade is stained red and the ground is covered in her blood. And when that's done I'll torture DG by plucking every feather, I'll hit him with my whip, and to finish it I'll use my ability on HIM to make him wish I'd killed him first. Hah hah!

[Hanna]

Tansa sighed in annoyance. The volcano was clearly visible now, though she couldn't tell how far away it was. "Are we almost there?"

[Kayla]

"Yes, we can start to land now. We're close enough that we can get to Canid Village if we spiral as we descend." DG said. He angled his wings and started to twirl downwards in a wide arching spiral. "Watch you wings!" he called up to Tansa.

[Hanna]

Tansa watched as DG flew down in a spiral. She tried to copy him, though her own spiral was crooked and the changing wind currents kept throwing her off balance. I hate flying... she thought as she increased her speed to try and catch up to DG.

[Kayla]

Sumi clenched tightly to Tansa's neck, suddenly unnerved by the spiral. She didn't trust Tansa's flying skills. Dumb shista is going to get us both killed.

"Careful Tansa! Speed isn't the key! Ride the wind currents!" DG warned.

[Hanna]

"How am I supposed to ride the current and spiral at the same time? That would only work in a tornado," she growled in annoyance and slight fear. She continued to fly downward, the ground seeming closer and closer by the second.

[Kayla]

"Ride the current out to keep yourself in a smooth spiral! Use it for lift if you feel like you're losing your balance then try to angle your wings again!" he laughed, letting the air carry his voice to her. He folded his wings and touched down to the ground. "Made it!" he announced.

Natsumi looked down and muttered. "They've already reached the ground and you're barely going downwards!"

[Hanna]

"I TOLD you, I'm not good at flying. I can't go any faster," she growled at Natsumi. "You know what? FINE!" She tilted her body down at a sharp angle, folding her wings slightly and coming down like a hawk diving at its prey.

[Kayla]

Natsumi bit her lip to keep from screaming, the wind wipping through her hair caused the braid to come loose. Great....I'm going to have to rebraid it! Somehow she wasn't as afraid of falling as Tansa had hoped.

Ivy giggled. She's going to freak out when she gets to the ground...or hurl. Probably hurl.

[Hanna]

Tansa continued the swift descent a little longer before spreading her wings to level out her path. But she was a little late, realizing she didn't know how to land only as she attempted to. Still moving forward at a swift speed, she angled her wings almost vertically to create as much wind resistance as possible as she lowered almost enough for her hind paws to reach the ground. Znij! I'm gonna crash!
